It starts with a musical idea. Sometimes a tune pops into my head. Sometimes I accidentally play something interesting on the guitar. Or I get an idea for a lyric and try to figure out some melody to fit it.

I hate new Years Eve. Well, maybe hate is too strong of a word. But, I am glad when it's over.
I sang and played guitar (rhythm and bass) in bands for over twenty years. (Been off that grind for another 20 and don't miss it. but that's another story.) We used to play News Years Eve gigs every year. It was great and it was very not so great.
