Rush Limbaugh caught my ear the other day when he referred to a new book by Os Guinness entitled A Free People’s Suicide in which Guinness makes the following observations of Americans today…where we have:

• Freedom without virtue
• Leadership without morality
• Business without trust

And then as I am driving into work yesterday listening to the Mark Simone Show on WOR, Mark asked for callers to comment on gay marriage. He opens the discussion by saying that he was opposed to gay marriage himself, but did not view it as being anti-gay rights because he was in favor of “civil unions”. But now he’s having second thoughts after all the chatter and seeing Obama and now Hilary become gay marriage advocates.

So I call the show and tie in the remarks Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs made at CPAC. She said the most important battle being waged in America right now is the battle between “Individualism” and “Collectivism”. I drew the connection to her statement with the fact that the most important foundation of any society is the “traditional” family as a unit, and as such the Collectivists (Marxist, Socialists) are not interested in gay rights or civil unions. They are only interested in destroying the ideal of “traditional” family…so we can all live happily ever after in the yellow submarine of the “collective” family. This is the subliminal intent of popular shows like Glee & Modern Family!

Of course I didn’t get my thoughts out entirely as Mark made a joke about using the word “Collectivism” on his show and then went on to make an unfounded statement about gay marriages lasting longer than heterosexual marriages…which I called him on and we laughed. It occurred to me after the call that Mark’s first instinctive opinion on the subject was from his own individual heart (inside out). His “second thoughts” were the result of the collective voices (outside in). Bingo!

There is only one way a society can transform itself so dramatically in such a relatively short amount of time (as societies go) from the leadership of George Washington to that of Barack Obama! It has to surrender “Individual” power to the “Collective”! And the ONLY way this is possible is by rendering the Family irrelevant and subordinate to the State (Collective). Thank you Michael “Nanny” Bloomberg!

As a result, we are seeing the consequences of all three Os Guinness bullet points above! Virtue, morality and trust are the Family-provided nutrients to the Individual! They also happen to be the equivalent of holy water to the “Collective” vampire!

The question ~ Will there be an intervention before we actually pull the trigger?
