The Sunday Morning Tune-up, June 10th 2012 Edition!

“The only thing we can pass on to our children is a living faith.”- Johann Christoph Arnold

I have often said that the act of writing for me is a process of emptying myself of myself and letting God do the rest. This morning is the most wonderful example of letting go and allowing God to weave his glory into our lives!

                                          Every Child is a Thought of God

Good Morning Dear Friend. I have been extremely blessed in my life. When I think of how God responds to us when we open ourselves to the possibilities of his infinite grace, I am at a complete loss as to why we don’t allow him into our lives more than we do!

I have come to realize a field of power that connects people of faith that does not exist to the Godless. It is a bountiful garden that transcends the physical and is available to all who seek it! My friendship with Pastor Christoph Arnold is a manifestation…a living fruit of this garden. The title of this morning’s Tune-up Every Child is a Thought of God, comes from the words handed down to Christoph by his Grandfather Eberhard Arnold.

When I saw the headline NY law targets school bullies in last Friday’s Times Herald-Record, I realized how lost and off track we have become as a society. The same society that has murdered 56 million of the most innocent and helpless among us without compunction since 1973…now suddenly after 236 years needs more government with more laws…to protect gay teenagers from being picked on??? Whew! Have we gone insane?

A few years back, I had the privilege of chairing a small business taskforce to help raise awareness of the REAL BULLY PROBLEM in the State of New York! I had said at the time that our governments, Federal and State in particular, have put Small Business on top of the Endangered Species List here in New York! But I am here this morning, after last years Gay Marriage Law and now this, to tell you that Small Business has to relinquish its spot to the new number one! Family has become the most threatened and endangered species inAmerica today!

Government has evolved from its constitutionally limited origin to a Legislative Leviathan usurping the traditional role of the family in determining the diets and sexual education of our own children! And shockingly, after 236 years, it has imposed, mandated and violated its way past our sacred 1st Amendment with the HHS Mandate!

The Sufi Poet Rumi once spoke to my heart of another field…“the field out there beyond right and wrong, where he would meet us.” He got that way wrong! Because if we don’t get it right here and now, the field out there beyond will be ringed with razor wire and gun towers! This is the history of bully governments…ignored by fools at their own peril!

We must reject the “feel good” advances of the government that’s here to help…as our 40th President so eloquently warned us! And we must whole-heartedly support and embrace the Scott Walker’s, Bishop Jenky’s and Pastor Arnold’s who stand up to the real bullies in defense of our most sacred principles and institutions.

The best way I can think of to pass on the living faith to my children is by demonstrating how important they are to me by living my own faith…with love, conviction and purpose! I would like to encourage you to read Pastor Arnold’s latest book, Why Children Matter. You can learn about it here www.whychildrenmatter.com . In it you will find a soft glowing beacon of light that guides us all back to the true path of the learning, love and compassionate protection that is the uniquely sacred province of Family! If I may be so bold as to give away the ending, Christoph closes so fittingly and perfectly with the prayer of St. Francis:

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace!

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;

Where there is injury, pardon;

Where there is doubt, faith;

Where there is despair, hope;

Where there is darkness, light;

And where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master-

Grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled, as to console;

To be understood, as to understand;

To be loved, as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

In pardoning that we are pardoned,

And in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.
